Damon Chan was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He is a professional cartographer and the designer behind Damon D Chan – Map Designs based in Edmonton, AB, Canada. A geography graduate at the University of British Columbia where he specialized in cartography and spatial analysis. It led to a career in academia and in the private sector.

Unlike his professional career where his work was primarily data driven, his map collection for Damon D Chan – Map Designs is powered by design through typography and cartography methods. He applied these techniques to design his neighbourhood maps where line has a purpose and every letter is placed thoughtfully.

Damon chose neighbourhoods as the main mapping theme because space and place is something that everyone can relate to. Whether it’s the area you live or work in, a site of importance, or a place you love. His designs provide an opportunity to display your places.
